Social Value & Carbon Reduction

RODMENA LIMITED (company no. 16472788) · Owner: Farshid Ashouri, Director · Adopted: 19 July 2026 · Reviewed at least annually

Proportionate and honest. We are a micro-business. Rather than publish grand claims we cannot evidence, this page lists a small number of commitments we actually keep, and states plainly where measurement is still being established.

Social value commitments

  • Open source: we build and maintain open-source software (Highway DSL and other tools) that anyone — including UK public bodies — can use freely. This is our largest ongoing contribution and it is verifiable at github.com/rodmena-limited.
  • Skills: engagements include genuine knowledge transfer — training the customer's engineers to run their systems without us.
  • UK economy: we are UK-based, UK-taxed and hire and subcontract in the UK when we grow.
  • Fair work: anyone engaged by the company works freely, on fair terms, with prompt payment of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Accessibility: our public web presence meets WCAG 2.2 AA (see the accessibility statement).

Carbon Reduction Plan

Structured with reference to PPN 006 (Carbon Reduction Plans) and proportionate to a micro-business with no premises open to the public, no fleet and no manufacturing.

Commitment to Net Zero

RODMENA LIMITED is committed to achieving net-zero emissions for its own operations by 2050 or sooner.

Baseline emissions

Status: being measured. The company was incorporated in May 2025; our first emissions baseline (Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories) is being established for our first full year of operation and will be published here with its methodology. We will not publish estimated figures as if they were measurements. As a remote-first software company we have no Scope 1 sources; our footprint is dominated by purchased electricity, cloud/hosting services and limited business travel.

Reduction measures already in place

  • Remote-first working — no commuting or office energy footprint
  • Software architecture that minimises server count per workload (fewer moving parts, less energy)
  • Preference for hosting providers with credible renewable-energy commitments
  • Rail-first travel policy within Great Britain; video-first by default
  • Hardware kept in service long-term, then reused or WEEE-recycled

Next steps

  • Publish the measured baseline and methodology for our first full operating year
  • Set reduction targets against that baseline
  • Report progress here annually
